Post 193: Mixed Media Art Journal Page: Be Original

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Art Journal Page titled Be Original. I tried something new for me here, made a separate A4 sized journal page instead of directly journalling in my art journal. This is because it is getting really thick and stamping isn't possible on it anymore. So I decided to journal on separate pages and create A4 size spreads which I will file together into my hand-made journal once I have a few pages ready.

To create texture and dimension I have used an mdf cutout (circles), gesso, modelling paste, mini beads, glitter, done embossing and distressed the edges of the paper. There are multiple layers of color on the page. I did background stamping on the A4 sheet with rubber dance stamps and then added modelling paste through a stencil, then colored the design with dark blue zig markers. The edges of the A4 sheet were painted and darkened with zig markers and gelatos. In the main panel, I used a brayer to add colors with acrylic paints and then with 2 stencils, added modelling paste, then stamped in the background and the flowers and dragonfly on watercolor paper, these images were colored with gelatos, then fussy cut. The mdf cutout was embossed and then the fussy cut images were added. More color was added with zig markers to create depth. Then seeds beeds and glitter were added to certain areas and some white splatter was created. Further, the "be" sentiment was written with white acrylic paint and the rest are stickers which were stuck down. The sentiment reads, "BE original, inspire, discover, create" Then the panel was distressed and torn in some places and adhered to the A4 size sheet.

  1. I love your art journal page. Lovely texture that looks just like stained glass. What a great idea to do seperate pages to bind later. I completely understand about journals becoming too bulky. Looking forward to seeing more pages. :)
